Art plays an important role in the life of a man and sometimes it is impossible to live without it. And it is natural that the first thing that comes to my mind at the mention of the word “art” is museums. It is the place, where you can enrich knowledge, look at the achievements of mankind, satisfy your aesthetic taste.
Museums are important for any country. There are a lot of museums in Ukraine but today I want to tell you about a wonderful museum in the village of Deleva. We made an unforgettable tour to the museum with our 11 formers. And some students of our school told us about his life, showed some photos, scripts, his works of art and personal things of great painter. 
Denys-Lev Ivantsev was born on March 5, 1910 in the village of Deleva Tlumach district of Ivano-Frankivsk region in the family of priest of the local Greek Catholic Church. After a local elementary school during the 1921-1929 years he studied classical school in Tlumach.
Feeling childhood passion for painting in 1930 he entered the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts in painting department. While studying in Krakow he was the founder and a chairman of Ukrainian art group “Afterglow”. In Krakow he maintained relationships with prominent Ukrainian writer and artist Jagellonian University professor Bogdan Lepky. In 1936-1937 years he studied at the Warsaw Institute of practical training.


During 1935-1939 years - he is the Member of the Association of Independent Ukrainian Artists in Lviv. He often met and talked with prominent Ukrainian artists P. Kovzhun, S. Hordynsky, O. Nowakowski and took  part in exhibitions. In 1938 won the first prize for his painting “Baptized Ukraine”. 
 Extremely  fruitful was the work of Denys-Lev Ivantsev in the second half of the thirties. It was then he created the first deep in content and technique perfect canvas for abstract- philosophical direction right to the “Grotesque”, “Krystallization of thoughts”. They laid the groundwork artist developed the theory of aesthetics which he was involved in the completion.

Late thirties began his landscape paintings and appeared the theme “The Dniester”.

    September 24, 1940 Denys married with Maria, a daughter of the head of Deleva Elementary School Yosyp Teliavsky. Young family soon moved to the city Stanislav. An explosion of Soviet- German war Denys-Ivantsev was a Methodist in Stanislav Regional House of Folk Art. He was one of the organizers of the first regional exhibition of Fine Art in Stanislav. At the beginning of the war Denys-lev Ivantsev moved with his family to his native village where he lived and where his parents lived too. In 1970 he was a teacher of a local school.


  In monumental legacy of the artist present interesting examples of oil painting in Ukrainian churches in Halychyna particularly, in his native village Deleva, village Koropets, village Stinka, Ternopil region.
  In this showcase you can see:
   1 .A certificate of enrollment at the Warsaw Institute of practical training.
   2 . A certificate of completion of Warsaw Institute of practical exercises. 
   3. Letter of Paul Kovzhun on January, 1935.
   4. Letter of Paul Kovzhun, 1937 with notification of acceptance Denys Ivantsev the Association of Independent Ukrainian Artists.
  5. Letter-Invitation Denys Ivantsev as a director of art school in Lviv by M. Butovych (1942). 




   During 1970-2003 Denys-Lev Ivantsev lived in Ivano-Frankivsk. Artist continues to work in the genres of landscape. One of the most important events in his life became the proclamation in 1991 The Act of Independence of Ukraine. Later he wrote in his autobiography “My dreams have fulfilled and I am happy that I live in Independent Ukraine. So I am happy that my art has made even a small contribution to Ukraine. In 1992 for contribution to the development of world culture International Biographical Centre Ivantsev was identified as the man of the year.
Denys-Lev Ivantsev died in June 13, 2003 and buried in the family-tomb in the cemetery Demyaniv Laz. In this showcase you can see letters the Director of General International Biographical Centre.
  The best art works by the artist include “Sunset in Tatrach”, Early spring”, “Self-portrait with his wife”, “Peasant”, “Autumn landscape”, “The last snow”, “The Dniester”, “ Bohdan Khmelnytsky”, “Oleksa Dovbusch” and series of seascapes works on religious themes. A great number of his works are in Ivano-Frankivsk regional museum of Fine Art. But most paintings are in the collection of his family and also abroad in the USA, Canada, Poland, Russia.


   He was an extremely intelligent and good man. The success of his works was the wealth of images and ideas created a complete personal style.
