Warm up
T: Dear boys and girls, today we are going to have some unusual lesson I want to say may be even tasty
lesson, because the topic of our today’s lesson is
"Traditional Ukrainian Food" and the aim of our lesson is...
As you know, we, Ukrainians like
to eat a lot of good, tasty food. Since old times
Ukrainian national cooking is famous for great variety of tasty and useful
dishes. They are good for health because they combine almost
everything the human body needs to be healthy.
T:What dishes do you prefer: Ukrainian or Italian? As you already know that Italians
are always famous for it’s pizza.
P1: As you already know I prefer Ukrainian food because it is more tasty.
T:What dishes is our country famous for?
P2:Our country is famous for borshch, holubtsi, varennyky and many other tasty dishes.
T:What is your favourite dish?
P3:My favourite dish is nalysnyky.
And now just think a
little and try to remember a few proverbs conserning to our
topic:"Food".

Dear children! Always remember
about healthy and unhealthy food. As
Alfred Newman said: "We are living in a world today where lemonade is made
from artificial flavors and furniture polish is made from real lemons."
Your hometask for today was to prepare some questions about healthy and
unhealthy food . You are divided into 2 groups and now one group gives a
question to another and they try to give an answer and after that vice versa.
What
are the benefits of eating healthy food?
_ People who eat healthy food feel
and look better.
_ They have fewer medical problems
and miss less days from work or school.
_ People who eat healthy food also
feel more energetic and live longer than people who don,t.
Is it important to take vitamins?
_ You can get all the vitamins you
need from the food you eat but taking a multivitamins once a day is a good
idea.
_ Multi vitamins can be taken
once a day after eating.
_ If you take a multivitamin be
sure to check the expiration date on the bottle.
What
kind of bread is healthy?
_ Whole white bread is good to
eat.
_ We should have at least 3 ounces of whole grains
per day.
_ Whole grains can be bread ,
cereal, brown rice.
What
kind of meat are the best?
_ Low fat meat like turkey and
chicken are good to eat.
_ Meat that is low in fat is
called lean.
How
many servings of fruit should we eat?
_ We should eat ¾ servings of fruit a day.
_ Fresh fruit like apples and
oranges are best.
_ Avoid eating canned fruit
because they contain too much sugar.
Are
sweets good for your health?
_ No, sweets are bad for your
healt
_ Avoid eating too many sweets.
_ buy a juicer and make fresh
juice instead.

Representing Grammar
Expresions of quantity SOME/ANY
SOME
is generally used in positive sentences.
ANY
is used in questions and negatives.
Example: Have we got any eggs?
MUCH

A
LOT OF
MUCH
and MANY are generally used in
questions and negatives. MUCH with
uncountable nouns and MANY with
countable nouns.
Example: How much money have you got?
There aren’t many parks in
my town.
A LOT OF
is used in
positive sentenses, with countable and uncountable nouns.
Example: He’s got a lot of money.
There are a lot of parks in London.

GROUPS
The first group: Just imagine that you have an opportunity to visit
one of Ukrainian restaurant of Mykhailo Poplavskyi. Your task is to ask about
the dessert of the restaurant using the expressions of quantity. And now try to
make a conversation between you and the waiter.


The second group: You visit a very famous restaurant in
Ivano_Frankivsk.You friend recommended it to you.He told you that in this restaurant you can find very tasty and
delicious food . But the only dish you are
interested in is Ukrainian borsch.Ask him or her the way of preparing or some
special serving. Make a discussion between the main cook and the visitor.And
also try to use the expressions of quantity.

HOLUBTSI DERUNY KHOLODETS

A. It is brawn made from
boiling pigs trotters. The meat is picked off the bone and the gravy sets
around it into a jelly as it cools; served with horseradish or mustard.
B. Pancakes, often made with
soured milk for a lighter batter. Thinner pancakes are called nalysnyky, which
are rolled and served with a stuffing ,usually fruit or jam.
C. Cabbage rolls stuffed with
rice and vegetables, or possibly with spiced minced meat, and stewed slowly in
the oven.
D. Soup based on beetroot with
meat and other vegetables; served with sour cream.There are many regional
varieties.
E. Pork fat_ no description of
Ukrainian cuisine would be complete without it. Ukrainians like their pigs to
be fat for it. Spices are rubbed into the skin. It,s eaten in thin slices on
black bread with garlic and salt. Especially delicious is the smoked version.
F. Ravioli_ like pasta stuffed
with potato, cabbage, mushrooms, meat or cheese or with cherries as a sweet
dish Pancakes made from grated potato and flour and fried; served with cream.
